Although I've only lived on Anglesey for a few months, I decided to take the plunge and participate in the annual Open Studios. It's a BIG event - more than 50 artists are opening their workspaces for some or all of the Easter fortnight, with a huge variety of styles and disciplines.
Exhibitions are great, and so are art and craft sales, but there's something really excellent about being able to see where the work happens, maybe see the tools and materials, and definitely chat to the artist.
The whole event is supported by 2 exhibitions, one in Beaumaris and one in Holyhead, each showing work from most (if not all) of the exhibitors. I think that's a great idea.
My studio is now unnaturally tidy(!), with all sorts of work on show - from finished and framed to pieces through to those that are in progress. The idea is that visitors feel comfortable to have a really good look around, and I'm there to chat if they'd like to.
I'm open 1pm-5pm 14,15,16 April and 11am-5pm 17,19,20,21,26,27 April. If you're wanting to visit outside those times give me a call and we'll see if we can sort something.
