A piece for fun for a friend who adores all things purple! Done with a small nib and gouache paint. The background is an acrylic wash, which dries waterproof and makes a very nice surface to write on. Blue flowers in gouache, plus a few dots of real gold finish the piece.
There's something wonderful about a rainbow of colours, whereever they are. I really did NOT need to sort these silks into colour order, but I feel it was worth it!!
I've had a couple of lovely calls recently from customers letting me know how pleased they were. The wedding that had the apple-theme was a wonderful day, and they sent me a photo of the table plan hanging from its tree - looks good!
Also had a call from someone who commissioned the Henry Ford quote (below) to say the recepient was delighted. He asked if I'd be able to create some sort of certificate of authenticity, which is not something I've been asked to do before, but if we can agree some wording I'm sure it'll be fine!
I don't expect I'll always hear the end of the story, but it's certainly great when I do!
Last August a good friend asked if I would write out the poem that her husband read to her at their wedding. Of course I was delighted to do so.... and she said those oh-so-marvellous words, "no rush do it when you're ready". Well - I failed to deliver it for their anniversary, but did manage to get it to them in time for Valentine's day.
Usually with a commission I will share my thoughts on what would work for a piece with the client quite early on, because of course you want to be sure that you're heading in the right direction.
This time, I didn't do that, and my thoughts on what I would do evolved considerably over the 5 months. Of course this would have been more difficult if I'd shared my early ideas with the client.
I'm really pleased with it, and am happy to report that my friends are happy with it too!
