Nottingham Calligraphers has been in existence for over 20 years, meeting monthly for workshops with excellent visiting tutors.
In the last couple of years our membership has dwindled, mainly because we've struggled for people to know of our existence.
On Friday night we had a meeting to decide what to do about it, and I'm so happy that there are plenty of ideas plus plenty of energy - I feel confident the future's bright!
If anyone's reading this and thinking Nottingham Calligraphers might be for them, please have a look at the website www.nottinghamcalligraphers.org.uk or contact me - we're very keen to have new members!
Well.... I've been kidding myself it's ages away, but now we're in April, the craft fair I'm attending on 30th April suddenly seems very close.
It's at Calke Abbey which is a beautiful setting, with what looks like a very good list of exhibitors. It's on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday after the Royal wedding, and I'm hoping lots of people will come and say hello. It's my first occasion for offering calligraphy at such an event - I guess I will learn a lot about the sort of work people are wanting to buy, and if it gives me a chance to have some conversations about commissions that really would be excellent.
I'm Janet Smith, a calligrapher who loves to experiment with lettering and calligraphy.
