This week I'm handing over 5 commissions .... this is both traumatic and delightful. By the time I've spent hours on a piece, mounting and framing it, finishing by wrapping it up for the client, I can only see the things that aren't quite perfect, so it's a joy when my customers see the piece for what it is - a thoughtful piece created just for them, with the best skills I can bring to it.
Last night I delivered 2 pieces to a lady who said that one piece made her feel "bleargh" - which appararently was a very good thing meaning the piece had moved her! (Thank goodness - as that's not how I would have interpreted the word "bleargh" !!) Most pieces are for Christmas so I can't post pictures yet - will add them as soon as I can.

I'm very excited to say that for the first time ever, I have some of my calligraphy in a gallery (with thanks to my friend Anna who definitely helped to made it happen)
I've some small quotes on sale, and will also have some packs of Christmas cards plus single cards. It's a small start, but an important step for me! The work is in the beautiful Seed Gallery and Studio in Crich - I feel very proud to be alongside amazing work from other makers. Do have a look at their site and visit if you can : www.seedgallery.co.uk |
