Calligraphy and weddings are good companions for each other - so many opportunities for lettering.
Of course it's true that there's so many beautiful possibilities from computers today, but it's one day when hand lettering should still be the thing (well, I would say that, wouldn't I?)
I'm off this afternoon/evening to a wedding fair at Bull Bay golf club (5pm to 9pm). It must be one of the finest non-golf views from a clubhouse, and the people running the clubhouse are lovely, and very keen to see it being used for all sorts of activities (such as weddings).
I've actually never shown my work at a wedding fair before, so it's been challenging thinking about what brides might like to see. I'm also thinking about what other wedding providers might like - a big success for me would be collaboration with a photographer, florist, wedding venue or even a wedding planner.
If you're passing, come and say hello!
I'm Janet Smith, a calligrapher who loves to experiment with lettering and calligraphy.
