I've been quiet for a while (yes, unusual!) but in that time one of the fabulous things I did was to have a week away with 2 other calligraphers. We hired a cottage in beautiful Gunnerside in North Yorkshire, and each took calligraphy work that we wanted to progress. Each day we would spend as much time as we wanted working away, with occasional distractions for walks, meals, outings, watching Wimbledon, drinking wine, wandering the village looking for a wifi signal, etc.
It was a really lovely week - once I got into the swing of it it was quite shocking how much can be achieved when focussed. I was helped greatly by there being no internet access (ahhh - the time it eats!) and it being mostly rainy (I find it hard to resist being outside when it's sunny).
I'll tell you in the next post what I was working on...
I'm Janet Smith, a calligrapher who loves to experiment with lettering and calligraphy.
